Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday affirmed India's increasing self-reliance in the defence sector, stating that "Operation Sindoor" has unequivocally demonstrated India's stringent policy against terrorism to the world. Speaking at an event commemorating the centenary of the historic conversation between spiritual figure Sree Narayana Guru and Mahatma Gandhi, PM Modi asserted that his government takes all appropriate steps in the national interest, leaving "no hideout... safe for terrorists who spill the blood of Indians."
The Prime Minister underscored the effectiveness of India's indigenous weaponry, remarking that "weapons manufactured in India showed their impact during the conflict with Pakistan," without explicitly naming the country. He further elaborated that during "Operation Sindoor," the Indian military "brought the enemy to its knees with made-in-India weapons in 22 minutes" through precision attacks on terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir following the horrific killing of civilians in Pahalgam. Modi expressed confidence that Indian-made weapons would soon gain global recognition.
Highlighting his government's 11-year tenure, PM Modi stated that significant efforts have been made to strengthen India across social, economic, and defence sectors. He emphasized the continuous decline in India's reliance on foreign countries for its defence needs, signaling a strong push towards "atmanirbharta" or self-reliance in the sector.
Beyond defence, the Prime Minister also detailed various welfare schemes in housing, drinking water, and health insurance, asserting that these initiatives have significantly empowered the deprived and backward sections of society. He also noted the increased establishment of institutions like IITs, IIMs, and AIIMS over the past 11 years, reflecting a broader governmental commitment to national development and progress inspired by the ideals of social reformers like Sree Narayana Guru.
